DGS Careers Bulletin – March 2017

Mock Exam Results

Since our return Junior and Leaving Certificate students have been receiving results and feedback from their subject teachers based on the recent mock exams. The results provide a really useful benchmark to gauge student progress across all subjects and a base from which to plan detailed revision in areas that may require additional attention.

It is important to point out that there is a significant block of teaching time remaining during which courses will be completed and students will begin revision and focus on exam technique.

Particularly for our Leaving Certificate students can I stress how important it is to be in school right up until the end of May.  Following the Easter break some students feel that they are better staying at home and studying. From our experience this is not the case and in fact can prove detrimental in terms of the students overall performance in State Exams.

Exam papers provide a useful resource in targeting revision and some students also find https://studyclix.ie/ really useful in comparing their answers to the exam marking schemes.

Finally all the exam preparation over the next few weeks must go hand in hand with balance and mindfulness. Eating well coupled with regular exercise and sleep, while taking some down time, is essential in order to be fully ready for the 7th June.
