DGS Valedictory 2021

Valedictory Service Friday 21st May 2021

On the afternoon of Friday May 21st, the 6th Yr class of 2021 were present for their valedictory ceremony, held outside on the basketball courts.  Unfortunately, due to Covid restrictions, parents were unable to attend.

The weather was cool but dry (most of the time) and we had readings from form teachers Mr Gregg and Ms Christmas.  Students also read poems, prayers, and reflections. Ayesha Jallali-Murphy and Katie McKeown brought us down memory lane with recollections from 1st to 6th year.

Colman Finlay and Woodley Nicholson spoke about their experiences growing up in the boarding house.

Towards the end, we had a photo gallery compiled by Roisin Crowe and Grace Flanagan.

The students had a gourmet burger and drink courtesy of TFW, DGS school caterers.  All students received a graduation certificate as well as a pen and a graduation gift to mark their special occasion.

Gifts were also presented to the Year Head and Form teachers and Mr Graham concluded the event with an address.

To organise a valedictory during a pandemic was challenging to say the least but thanks to the efforts of the staff and students combined, everyone enjoyed a safe and memorable day.

We wish them every success for their future.

It is hoped that later in the week there will be highlights from the graduation posted on the school website of the event.
