Coding Academy Update

On Thursday 28th April , DGS and DkIT were invited by the Irish Computer Society (ICS) to Techweek 2016 in the RDS, Dublin.

We set up our stand to show how Dundalk Grammar School (DGS) collaborated with the Department of Computing and Mathematics in the Dundalk Institute of Technology (DkIT).

Students from DGS and DkIT manned the stand and demonstrated how to use the Sphero 2 and Ollie robots to Primary and Secondary School students throughout the day as well as letting them play the games that they had coded during the coding classes since Christmas.

The stand created a lot of interest at the exhibition and was also visited by R2-D2 from Star Wars and our Headmaster (Cyril Drury) who attended the National Finals of the F1 in Schools Technology Challenge.

We would like to thank Karl, Bevis, Kevin, Vishva, Ronan, David, Radoslaw and the six DkIT students who came to the RDS for their help and professionalism at Techweek 2016.

The DGS Coding Academy is taking a break until next September, and we are looking forward to working with the DkIT tutors in the next academic year 2016-2017.
