    2009: 2nd in Ireland!

On 12th March in Griffith College Dublin, schools came together to take part in the regional final of Formula One for Schools.  As well as competing to produce the best engineered and fastest car in Leinster, teams had to present a portfolio of their work to a panel of judges.  Students had to design a website, source sponsorship to fund their individual team project and structure their team to operate in a business-like manner.

The ICT department are delighted to announce that both school teams (Team Govannon Racing and Team Evolution Racing) have now qualified for the Irish final of F1 in Schools.  In addition TEAM GOVANNON RACING won the award for the Best Use of ICT & CAD and TEAM EVOLUTION RACING had the fastest car (R-Type) in Leinster.

The F1 in Schools National Finals will be held in Griffith College on Thursday the 29th April.  Both teams are determined to achieve first place in the competition and represent Dundalk Grammar School, Leinster and Ireland in the World Finals next year.  See you on the grid!  Here's hoping they can build on the wonderful second place in Ireland achieved by DGS Team Valhalla in 2009.

TEAM GOVANNON RACING - Michael O'Neill, Niall Carroll, Conor Clarke, Steven Butterly, Jack Farrell and Robbie Rowntree
