Senior Boys Hockey 2011
Dundalk Grammar School Senior Boys Hockey got back to their winning ways in January 2011, with a comprehensive home win (4-1) over Kings Hospital (Dublin) in the Leinster League. Sporting their new shirts, the DGS lads started brightly and it was David De Loughry who opened the scoring with a well taken goal at the back post. At the other end, DGS goalkeeper kept out a fierce strike, which prompted a good response by home attack with Niall Curran, finding Barry Faulkner who again tapped in at the back post (2-0).
Early stages of the second half saw DGS soak some pressure, with Conor Ryan and Ben Reynolds strong in defense. Having weathered the storm, DGS pressed forward with Captain Simon Mc Keever to the fore. An early ball by brother Jeremy Mc Keever found De Loughry free in the circle and he made no mistake, beating the keeper (3-0). Conor Ryan was the first to react to a lose ball in the circle and volleyed it to the back of the net to make it 4-0. A late Kings Hospital strike provided them with a consolation goal, however the final score of 4-1, gave Dundalk Grammar School a vital 3 points in the Leinster League.
