Gaisce –The President’s Award
Presidents Award Ceremony
2009 has been a Golden year for the Gaisce award at Dundalk Grammar School. This year we were proud to announce that two of our past pupils, John and Sam Bourke (sons of Canon Ronnie Bourke of Kingscourt ), were recently awarded their Gold Gaisce Award. Both John and Sam attended the Gaisce gold ceremony at Dublin Castle on Tuesday the 31st March accompanied by Mrs Ruddle, DGS President's Award Leader.
President Mary McAleese made the presentations as it was the final reward for the huge achievements for the boys who have worked hard over the past two years to fulfil the criteria for the award. Speaking at the Awards Ceremony, President McAleese said that by partaking in the Gaisce Gold award, "you take on a commitment to challenge yourself to do things you can only have dreamt were possible. It’s not easy and it’s not for everybody but if you want something to sink your teeth into, to challenge yourself and to reach your goals then it may be for you”.
