Showjumping League
Olivia, Marina and Liz and their trusty steeds, Clari, Sea Eagle and Shalom Outlaw, made up the equestrian team representing DGS at the Hoofprints Showjumping League at Kilossery in early March.
All 3 team mates competed in the individual competition where Liz (one of the youngest competitors) did us proud by jumping a double clear and speeding around in the jump off to claim second place.
In the team competition, DGS were first to jump and had the added pressure of missing a team mate (sadly Stephen Heaney’s horse suffered a last minute injury). Despite having two inexperienced horses on the team and facing a tough course of obstacles, Marina, Olivia and Liz kept their cool and all jumped double clears. Every other team carried faults which meant that there was no need for DGS to take part in the jump off. With all of the hard work done, they just had to sit back and wait for the prize-giving where they accepted first place.
Well done to all of the girls on this wonderful achievement and a big thank you to their parents and, of course, their fantastic ponies!!
